Historic-artistic tours
For two centuries, the Malatesta family dominated these lands between the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Marches.
Between 1200 and 1400 the Malatestas built towns and fortresses. As true patrons, they surrounded themselves with important artists, leaving their imprint everywhere, from Rimini to the mountains and valleys. Throughout our territory, you'll find significant masterpieces and small treasures, which can form the basis of a pleasant and relaxing cultural tour far from the frenzy of the coast.
The Romans also left their mark here, and before them, a pre-Etruscan civilisation.
As a crossroads of peoples and cultures throughout the centuries, Rimini Riviera truly has a lot to offer art and history lovers. Customised tours can be created in search of castles and fortresses, the great paintings of the 14th century Riminese school, or the great number of parish churches, or you can follow the routes taken by Saint Francis in 1300. You can choose from art, ethnographic, and archaeological museums.
To learn more about fortresses and parish churches, museums, monuments and surprising archaeological treasures of the Rimini Riviera, please visit the section entitled Culture and Art.
